Movers in Van Nuys, CA

Van Nuys is the busy middle of the Valley: dense apartment blocks, the government center off Sylmar and Van Nuys Blvd, the courthouse crowd, and a grid of older buildings strung along Sherman Way, Victory, and Roscoe. It is the kind of place where most moves are apartment-to-apartment, often within a few miles, and parking is the real problem. Laprom Movers works out of a yard right on Sherman Way in Reseda, so Van Nuys is practically next door and our trucks get there before the streets clog.

Apartments and street parking

The bulk of Van Nuys is rentals, a lot of them older walk-ups with no elevator, narrow stairwells, and street parking that requires a permit or some careful timing. This is bread-and-butter work for us. We figure out the loading window, position the truck so it is not blocking a lane on a busy boulevard, and bring enough crew that the stair-carry does not turn an afternoon into a whole day. Victor built Laprom around a crew that shows up on time precisely because his early years in this business were full of no-shows; that matters most on a tight rental turnover.

Around the Govt Center and Sherman Way

Closer to the civic center the buildings get bigger and the loading rules get stricter. We book freight access where it exists, pad the doorways and elevator, and keep the truck legal. Short hourly jobs are common here, and the $175 two-mover rate fits them well.

For pricing: $175 an hour for two movers and a truck, $239 for three, gear included. Flat bands run from $470 to $680 for a studio up through the bigger units, and a $150 deposit holds the date against your total. Released-value coverage is sixty cents a pound standard. You get a written estimate and the state moving booklet before anything is signed. Laprom Movers is fully licensed — California PUC Cal-T permit, US DOT and MC on file — and runs its own trucks and uniformed crews, never a broker. Call (888) 711-4778.

Van Nuys Reviews

★★★★★

“Relocated from Chatsworth out to Las Vegas, the I-15 haul. I'd been nervous about a long-distance move after horror stories from friends, but the binding quote held to the dollar and the crew was the same start to finish. They wrapped the mattresses, labeled boxes by room so unloading in Vegas was painless. Started early to dodge the Valley heat before the load. These folks run a tight operation and I'd send anyone their way.”

“Tiny studio in Reseda, second floor walk-up, no elevator. They didn't grumble once about the stairs in that August heat. Quick, courteous, fair price. Thank you.”

“Decent move from West Hills. They ran a little behind because of a jam on the 101, but the office called to let me know rather than just leaving me staring at the window. Crew was friendly and worked fast once on site to make up time. Furniture all arrived fine. Minor timing hiccup, otherwise I have no complaints and the price matched what they told me.”

FAQ

There's nowhere to park a moving truck on my street — what then?
We deal with that constantly in Van Nuys. We scout the address, find the closest legal spot, and time the load for a window when the curb's open. Where the city requires a temporary no-parking permit for a big truck, we'll tell you how to arrange it so the lane's actually free when we show up.
My building is an old walk-up with a narrow stairwell — can you still do it?
Yes, that's most of the housing stock around here. Narrow stairs just mean we plan the carry path and usually add a third mover so it moves fast. We'll measure the tight turns for big pieces ahead of time so nothing gets stuck on the landing.
It's a small one-bedroom going about three miles. What's that cost?
A short hop like that usually runs on the hourly rate — $175 for two movers and the truck, gear included. A compact one-bedroom moving a few miles within Van Nuys is often just a few hours of work. We'll give you an honest time estimate when we quote it.
